Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has condemned Senator Francis Fadahunsi over his controversial “kill Accord” remark ahead of the Osun State governorship election, Peak Newspaper reports.
Obi described the statement as unacceptable and called on the senator to withdraw it and apologise to the people of Osun.
The controversy followed a viral video in which Fadahunsi was heard making remarks about Accord Party supporters. The senator has since clarified that by “kill Accord,” he meant defeating the party through votes, not violence.
The development has heightened concerns over political rhetoric ahead of the August 15 governorship election, with calls for politicians and their supporters to avoid statements that could encourage violence.
Obi’s reported reaction adds to the growing criticism of Fadahunsi’s remarks as political parties prepare for the poll.
