Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has rewarded Mrs. Marbel Ijeoma Duaka, a nurse from Anambra State, with a fully furnished two-bedroom house for her outstanding service and dedication to duty.
Zulum also announced automatic employment for Duaka’s son, Anthony, a Banking and Finance graduate, at Kashim Ibrahim University, Maiduguri.
Presenting the house key in Mafa Local Government Area on Tuesday, October 7, the governor praised Mrs. Duaka for remaining at her post throughout the Boko Haram insurgency, despite being a non-indigene.
“She has been working here for over 24 years and never left Mafa for even a month. During the crisis, many fled, but she stayed. She has treated most of my family members, including my mother,” Zulum said.
Mrs. Duaka was among 72 teachers and health workers who received houses under the state’s ongoing civil service reward scheme.
Expressing gratitude, the nurse said,
“Today is the happiest day of my life. The governor has honoured me, given my son a job, and provided me with a house. I am truly grateful.”
Governor Zulum has previously honoured other non-indigene workers, including Mrs. Obiageli Mazi from Abia State, who received a similar reward in 2022 for her commitment and punctuality.
