Social media influencer and outspoken activist Martins Otse—widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM) has publicly criticized the First Lady of Bayelsa State over alleged attempts to interfere in a viral assault case involving a young girl, Peak Newspaper reports
The controversy follows the circulation of a disturbing video showing a girl being beaten by multiple individuals, which sparked outrage across social media and calls for justice. In response, the First Lady was reportedly said to have offered to sponsor the victim’s university education.
However, VeryDarkMan accused her of attempting to suppress the case by offering compensation instead of ensuring that those responsible are held accountable. He argued that justice should not be replaced with settlement or gestures, insisting that the perpetrators must face legal consequences.
The remarks have fueled widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians divided over the situation. While some praised the offer of educational support as a positive gesture, others echoed concerns that it could undermine the pursuit of justice.
