Human Rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju asserted that insecurity in Nigeria isn’t accidental or temporary anymore it has become a lucrative business, Peak Newspaper reports.
According to him, some individuals and interests profit from ongoing insecurity, meaning they benefit financially or politically when violence and disorder continue instead of being resolved.
He Stressed that insecurity is a major business in Nigeria. Those making money with insecurity in the security forces don’t want it to end.
He suggested there are intentional elements and complicity behind how insecurity persists, saying to some observers things like, they collude with bandits and treat the crisis as a business venture.
He also linked the idea of insecurity as a business to security budgets, claiming that the more the security budget, the more insecurity implying that bigger allocations haven’t translated into safety but instead fuel more chaos that benefits certain interests.
