A Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has warned Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke that the August 15 governorship election could be used by the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a test run for the 2027 presidential election, Peak Newspaper reports.
Momodu, in a post on X, alleged that President Bola Tinubu was exerting undue influence over the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and warned that the Osun election may not be free, fair and credible.
He urged Adeleke to remain vigilant, alleging that the ruling APC was determined to use the election to test strategies ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
Momodu further claimed that APC supporters in Osun had been instructed to use every possible means to secure victory, warning that such actions could trigger serious consequences after the election.
He nevertheless encouraged Adeleke to remain focused and commended his administration for what he described as its achievements in the state.
The allegations come amid heightened political tension ahead of the Osun governorship election, with opposition parties and civil society groups calling for a peaceful, transparent and credible electoral process.
