The Ajobu and Paramount Ruler of Araromi-Obu Kingdom, HRM Oba Aderemi Adelola, Otikirimisi, Adedugba I, has reaffirmed his commitment to the continued development of the kingdom and the safety of its residents, Peak Newspaper Nigeria reports.
Speaking during the 2025 edition of the annual Odun Oba festival held at his palace Along Ayesan, Araromi-Obu Road, the monarch stressed the need for sustained peace and the promotion of cultural values across the kingdom.
“My priority remains the development of Araromi-Obu Kingdom, and I will continue to support individuals and government efforts to achieve it. I thank all Araromi-Obu sons and daughters, tourists and well-wishers who attended the 2025 Odun Oba festival He said.
Oba Aderemi Adelola described the Odun Oba festival as a historical and cultural event that dates back to 1510 during the reign of the first Ajobu of Araromi-Obu Kingdom.
He said the festival not only celebrates the monarchy’s legacy, but also reinforces unity among the people.
“I will continue to work towards the development of this kingdom and ensure the safety of lives and property. I also urge our people to continue to live peacefully with one another, because development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace,” the monarch added.
Honourable Taiwo Adegoroye, the Executive Chairman of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo state also at the event, described the 2025 Odun Oba celebration as a significant event that showcases the rich cultural heritage of the kingdom.
He said, “Government alone cannot do everything. We must all work together and support the Ajobu to make Araromi-Obu great. I wish the monarch a successful celebration and reaffirm my commitment to the growth and prosperity of the kingdom.”
Also speaking at the event, Former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), in Ondo State, Dr. Aderotimi Adelola, congratulated Oba Adelola on the successful hosting of this year’s festival.
Dr Adelola described the Odun Oba as a symbolic annual event featuring a variety of traditional activities that reflect the cultural identity of the Araromi-Obu people.
He said it is a time when High Chiefs, Chiefs, Opojis (female chiefs), Olojas, Baales, Princes, Princesses, Olori, community stakeholders, interest groups and other prominent Araromi-Obu’s pay homage to the Ajobu in colourful traditional attires.
He commended the monarch for preserving the customs and traditions of the kingdom through wisdom and leadership.
Ajobu contributions have helped maintain peace in the land, which is essential for development. I pray for long life and more wisdom for Kabiyesi as he continues to lead the people of Araromi Obu Kingdom,” he said.
