Human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi has criticised the Bola Tinubu–led government, saying Nigeria is in a “free fall” as insecurity escalates across the country.
Reacting to the recent deadly attacks in Kebbi, Zamfara and Taraba states, Farotimi accused governments at all levels of failing in their duty to protect citizens.
He said, “Nigeria is in free fall… government at all levels has failed miserably and now stands accused of complicity in crimes against humanity. The buck stops with you, President Tinubu. Do we still have a country? I struggle to see a government.”
Peak Newspaper had reported the abduction of 25 schoolgirls and the killing of a vice-principal at Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State.
It also reported the killing of APC chieftain Umar Moriki by suspected bandits along the Gusau–Tsafe highway in Zamfara, as well as an attack on Amadu village in Taraba State where six IDPs were killed.
Farotimi, a long-time government critic who was recently detained for 21 days over alleged defamation and cyberbullying, said the government’s continued inaction invites “true anarchy.”
