The All Progressives Congress (APC) has significantly expanded its grassroots base in Ondo State following a mass defection of hundreds of members from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peak Newspaper reports.
The event took place yesterday, during the APC Araromi Obu ward meeting held at the party’s secretariat.
The influx of new members marks a major shift in the political alignment of the ward, as former opposition stalwarts officially embraced the “broom” symbol of the APC.
Leading the defectors, Hon. Biyi Temenu stated that the decision to join the ruling party was a calculated move driven by the “visible and impactful” governance of the current administrations.
“We are here to pledge our full loyalty and commitment to the progressive mission of the APC,” Hon. Temenu said. “Our satisfaction stems from the bold steps taken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reposition Nigeria and the dedicated leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa in Ondo State.”
The ward leadership, led by the Special Adviser to the governor on Union Matters, Comrade Taiwo Bola welcomed the decampees, describing the event as a testament to the APC’s growing popularity and its ability to deliver on its promises to the people. Other party officials noted that the integration process for the new members would begin immediately to ensure a unified front ahead of upcoming political engagements.
