Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, have rejected allegations by former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose that there is a plot to dethrone the monarch, Peak Newspaper reports.

In separate reactions through their media aides, both the state government and the palace described the claim as unfounded and baseless.

Fayose had earlier alleged in a post on X that Makinde was planning to remove Ladoja, claiming the monarch could be issued a query for failing to attend a recent elevation ceremony of chiefs in Ibadan.

However, Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Dotun Oyelade, dismissed the allegation, stating that the government had “never contemplated, discussed, or planned such an action.”

He added that the claim should be disregarded, describing it as politically motivated propaganda.

Similarly, the media aide to the Olubadan, Adeola Oloko, said there was no rift between the governor and the monarch to justify such speculation, maintaining that the report was entirely a rumour.

Both parties urged the public to ignore the claim, reaffirming that there is no crisis between the Oyo State Government and the Olubadan.
