A Civil Society Organization, Liberty Youth Council Of Nigeria (LYCN) has addressed a petition to the Nigerian Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, demanding a probe into what it describes as “the sudden and suspicious death of Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA), the Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the last general election in Ondo State”, Peak Newspaper reports.

The group expressed pain and concern over the alleged suspicious death of Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, arguing that circumstances surrounding the death and the pictures of the remains of the deceased, which are now circulating on the social media strongly suggest that he was brutally attacked to death.

While LYCN commiserates with friends and families of the deceased, Otunba Bamidele, it demanded that the police:

“1. Commence a thorough investigation into the death of Otunba Bamidele Akingboye without delay.

“2. Direct the Nigeria Police Force  Lagos State Police Command to secure his residence at VGC, Lagos, as a potential crime scene for proper forensic analysis.

“3. Ensure that an autopsy is conducted by independent forensic experts to determine the true cause of death.

“4. Identify, question, and investigate all possible suspects, including those with political or personal links to the deceased.

“5. Provide regular updates to his family, associates, and the general public to guarantee transparency and justice in the process,” LYCN demanded.
