The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has intensified its investigation into Abubakar Malami, former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, over allegations of large scale financial impropriety involving multiple bank accounts.
Sources told TheCable that Malami spent Monday night at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja after arriving late for an interrogation session earlier in the day. His late arrival reportedly made it impossible to conclude questioning, leading investigators to continue the process overnight.
An associate of the former minister disclosed that the EFCC is currently probing 46 bank accounts allegedly linked to Malami. The accounts are said to contain billions of naira as well as millions in foreign currencies, making them a central focus of the ongoing investigation.
The source added that investigators are examining the origin of the funds, transaction patterns, and possible connections to public office dealings during Malami’s tenure as attorney general.
The EFCC has yet to issue an official statement on the matter, but findings from the investigation are expected to determine the next line of action.
More details are expected to emerge as the probe continues.
