Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, is reportedly in the final stages of defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), sources tell Peak Newspaper.
According to insiders, the process is expected to be completed before the end of January 2026. Mutfwang, who was elected on the PDP platform in 2023, has made up his mind to leave the party, which is currently facing severe internal factionalism and its worst crisis in years.
Peak Newspaper also reports that President Bola Tinubu personally met with Mutfwang and has endorsed his proposed move to the ruling party. Political analysts say the defection could significantly strengthen APC’s position in Plateau ahead of upcoming elections.
