Five families in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, are pressing the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) for N154.25 million compensation over the 2018 forceful seizure of their homes for rail development.

The Federal High Court ruled in May 2023 that NRC violated due process, awarding N10 million in damages. Despite earlier offers through the Federal Ministry of Transportation and CCECC, the families insist on full payment.

Their lawyer, Akeem Aponmade, said the claim reflects certified property valuations, underscoring the need for fair restitution amid infrastructure expansion.
