The newly appointed Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Ondo State Governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Prince (Hon.) Olaoluwa Adesanya, has urged members and chieftains of opposition political parties in the state to embrace peace and unity in the interest of the progress and development of Ondo State, Peak Newspaper reports.
Adesanya made the call while speaking at an interactive session with state chairmen and members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Ondo State Chapter.
He disclosed that the Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was making efforts to secure and furnish a new and befitting office space for IPAC in the state.
According to him, the governor recognises the important role IPAC plays in strengthening democracy and believes the council deserves a conducive environment to carry out its activities.
“His Excellency recognises the vital role IPAC plays in our democracy and believes you deserve a functional environment to carry out your activities,” he said.
Highlighting the significance of IPAC, Adesanya described the council as “an integral partner in governance,” stressing that the progress and stability of the state depend on the maturity and contributions of political leaders across party lines.
“The progress and stability of Ondo State depend heavily on the maturity and input of its political leadership across all party lines,” he said.
He urged members of the council to contribute to the success of the Aiyedatiwa administration’s OUR EASE agenda, noting that the development of the state would benefit both citizens and political organisations.
“When the state thrives, every citizen and every political entity benefits,” he added.
Adesanya also appealed to political parties to support the administration’s stated objective of securing one million votes from Ondo State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“In this spirit of collective responsibility, I appeal to us all to join hands and support the present administration in achieving the landmark goal set by His Excellency—delivering 1 million votes from Ondo State for the President,” he said.
He described the target as a demonstration of the state’s unity and strategic alignment with the Federal Government, which he said could help attract developmental benefits to the state.
On allegations that Governor Aiyedatiwa was involved in anti-party activities, Adesanya dismissed the claims as “completely false, unfounded, and malicious.”
He maintained that the governor had remained committed to what he described as progressive politics, democratic ideals and party development.
Adesanya also disclosed that programmes designed to benefit political party leaders across the state were being developed, assuring that their implementation would commence systematically soon.
Responding, the Ondo State Chairman of the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Peretei, urged members of IPAC to remain united and politically neutral.
