Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has opened up on his failed attempt to defect to the APC and his ongoing plans to possibly join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peak Newspaper reports.
According to the governor, efforts to resolve internal political differences proved unsuccessful despite setting up reconciliation committees at both national and state levels.
“We have found ourselves in a very serious situation. I have done everything possible to ensure reconciliation, but it has not worked,” he said.
Bala Mohammed revealed that consultations were extended to multiple political options, including the APC, but the outcome was not favorable.
“We explored all options, including even the APC, but sadly, we discovered that we are not wanted there.”
He further disclosed that the ADC has emerged as a more receptive platform, although final decisions are still pending.
“As of now, ADC appears to be a very welcoming and acceptable platform. However, we have not concluded discussions.”
The governor emphasized that ongoing consultations with key stakeholders will determine the next move, stressing the need to avoid political missteps.
“We are amenable to joining the ADC if certain conditions are met. For now, they are our preferred destination.”
Peak Newspaper understood that Political observers say this development could further strengthen emerging coalitions ahead of the 2027 elections.
