Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, says a total of 1,341 undergraduates will graduate at its 17th convocation ceremony, with 185 earning first-class honours.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shadrach Akindele announced this on Monday while briefing journalists ahead of the convocation, which coincides with the university’s 20th anniversary.
According to him, 662 students will graduate with second-class upper degrees, 410 with second-class lower, 79 with third class, and five with pass degrees. The best graduating student, Joel Durigbo from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, achieved a perfect 5.0 CGPA.
Akindele added that 338 postgraduate students will also receive higher degrees and diplomas on October 10, including 19 PhDs.
Highlighting the university’s growth, the VC noted that Redeemer’s University was recently ranked second in Nigeria in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking and selected by TETFund as one of only eight private universities to train its sponsored postgraduate candidates.
This year’s ceremony, themed “The Indomitable Set,” will also confer honorary degrees on notable figures, including Omolewa Ahmed, Mike Bamiloye, and Kola Adeshina.
