FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says recent defections of PDP leaders and governors to the APC prove President Bola Tinubu’s strong leadership and performance.
Speaking at the flag-off of a major road project in Abuja, Wike said those who once accused him of working for the APC are now members of the ruling party.
“They should commend me for doing a good job for them,” he joked.
His remarks follow the defection of Enugu Governor Peter Mbah and Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri, alongside 19 Bayelsa lawmakers, reducing PDP governors from 11 to 8.
Wike credited Tinubu’s “decisive leadership” for ensuring states now have enough funds to pay salaries and execute projects without borrowing.
FCT Minister of State Mariya Mahmoud praised Wike’s efforts, saying the FCT under his watch has become “a construction powerhouse and a beacon of national renewal.”
