Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko (APC–Sokoto North) has expanded his empowerment initiative beyond his senatorial district, extending the programme to the seven Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Sokoto South Senatorial District.

The event, held in Bodinga town, headquarters of Bodinga LGA, drew a large crowd of party supporters, beneficiaries, and community leaders who hailed the senator’s commitment to uplifting lives across the state.

Wamakko, a former governor of Sokoto State, said the gesture stemmed from his desire to support the entire people of the state irrespective of political or regional divides. He noted that the expansion of the empowerment scheme aligns with Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s Nine-Point Smart Agenda, which prioritizes citizens’ welfare and grassroots development.

Represented by the APC State Youth Leader, Alhaji Nasiru Italy, the senator said:

> “Today, we are here in the Southern Zone—covering Tambuwal, Bodinga, Yabo, Shagari, Tureta, Dange/Shuni, and Kebbe LGAs—not only to empower our people but also to strengthen our existing relationships. This programme is designed to support APC leaders at the grassroots with motorcycles, grinding machines, water pumps, and food items including millet and maize.”

Wamakko assured that the initiative would be sustained to ease the economic challenges of the people and complement the state government’s ongoing efforts. He also commended Governor Aliyu for his people-centered leadership and steadfast dedication to public welfare.

In his goodwill message, the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala, described Senator Wamakko as a “father, leader, and mentor to all political stakeholders in the state.”

> “He is a leader whose generosity only Almighty God can reward. We don’t have enough words to appreciate him,” Bala said, while also pledging continued support for the governor’s development strides.

The APC Deputy National Youth Leader, Hon. Jamaluddeen Kabir, lauded Wamakko’s consistency in promoting grassroots empowerment and political inclusion, describing him as “a towering figure in the APC, not only in Sokoto but across the country.”

He urged party supporters to remain loyal to Senator Wamakko, President Bola Tinubu, and Governor Ahmed Aliyu, adding that the initiative reflects the fulfilment of the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Tinubu nationwide.

Also speaking, the State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Alhaji Abbah Tambuwal, praised both Wamakko and Aliyu for their commitment to policies and programmes that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens.

The event featured the symbolic distribution of motorcycles, grinding machines, water pumps, and assorted grains to party leaders and beneficiaries across the seven LGAs of the Southern Senatorial District.
