Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the Osun State governorship election has been described by supporters as a major political feat, considering the strength of the opposition mobilised against him, Peak Newspaper reports.
Adeleke was said to have defeated a formidable APC campaign structure involving 16 governors, the Senate President, ministers, senators, members of the House of Representatives and about 300 high-profile members of the campaign council.
Supporters of the governor have interpreted the outcome as another reminder that political strength cannot always be measured by the number of influential individuals backing a candidate.
Reacting to the development, one supporter said the result was proof that “the one with God is always the majority,” while citing Romans 8:31: “If God is for us, who can be against us?”
The victory has therefore been framed by Adeleke’s supporters not only as a political triumph, but also as a testament to their belief that determination, grassroots support and faith can overcome seemingly overwhelming opposition.
