Two people have been confirmed dead following a collision involving two 40-foot container trucks on the Oshodi–Apapa Expressway in Lagos State, according to officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
LASTMA said the accident occurred when the trucks collided, resulting in severe damage and disruption to traffic along the busy corridor, which serves as a major route to the Apapa ports. Emergency responders were deployed to the scene, while the bodies of the deceased were evacuated.
Traffic officials added that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash, while motorists were advised to exercise caution and comply with traffic regulations, especially on routes frequently used by heavy-duty vehicles.
The incident adds to concerns over road safety involving articulated trucks on major highways in Nigeria, particularly within Lagos’ high-traffic port corridors.
