Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested a wanted bandit, a fake army officer, and recovered arms and ammunition in multiple operations across Taraba State.
Acting Army PRO, Captain Olubodunde Oni, said the troops stormed a bandits’ camp in Lau LGA on April 16, recovering weapons and ID belonging to a suspect, Adamu Umaru Jauro. Another suspect, Yusuf Hammadu a.k.a. “Dogo,” was arrested and confessed to involvement in kidnappings across several LGAs.
Troops also apprehended Richard Ongu, who had been impersonating a Major in the Nigerian Army.
Recovered items include 86 rounds of 5.6mm ammo, three single-barrel guns, military uniforms, and a Beofeng radio.
Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa praised the troops’ efforts and urged the public to report suspicious activities. He also warned against fraudulent military recruitment practices.
