A man identified as Myom has been apprehended for allegedly stealing yams from multiple farms in Tse Dugwer village, Benue State.
According to local reports, the suspect was first seen on Sunday night uprooting yams from a farm estimated to have about 40 heaps. The farm owner immediately alerted members of the community vigilante group, but Myom managed to escape before he could be caught.
However, his luck ran out in the early hours of Monday, October 21, when he was reportedly caught red-handed stealing yams from another farmer’s plot.
Some of the stolen tubers were later traced and recovered from a buyer who had allegedly purchased them from the suspect.
Myom is currently in custody as investigations into the incident continue.
