Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has rolled out a ₦400 million bursary, scholarship and financial assistance package for 13,360 students of Ondo State origin studying in tertiary institutions across Nigeria, Peak Newspaper reports.
The programme, flagged off on Tuesday at the Cocoa Conference Centre, Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure, is designed to provide financial support to students and ease the burden of education-related expenses.
The beneficiaries comprise 11,907 bursary recipients, 614 scholarship beneficiaries, 239 Nigerian Law School students, 500 medical students undergoing clinical training and 100 physically challenged students.
Speaking at the event, Governor Aiyedatiwa described education as a strategic investment in the future of the state, stressing that financial hardship should not prevent deserving students from achieving their educational aspirations.
He said the intervention was part of his administration’s commitment to human capital development under the “OUR EASE” agenda, adding that the government had continued to channel resources toward improving education at all levels, he said.
