The Olufon of Ifon in Osun State, Oba Peter Ipadeola, has cast doubt on the legitimacy of any Yoruba monarch unable to trace their lineage to Ile-Ife, Peak Newspaper reports.
Speaking on the historical roots of the Yoruba people, Oba Ipadeola reaffirmed that Ile-Ife remains the cradle of the Yoruba race, emphasising the cultural and ancestral significance of the town in confirming royal heritage.
The monarch’s remarks highlight ongoing discussions around traditional authority and the historical verification of Yoruba kingship across the region.
