Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the recruitment of teachers into public primary schools across the state as part of efforts to strengthen the basic education sector and improve learning outcomes, Peak Newspaper reports.
The Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Femi Akinwumi, announced the approval in a statement issued on Monday in Ado-Ekiti.
According to Akinwumi, the recruitment is intended to fill consequential vacancies created by the retirement of teachers over the past few years, thereby addressing staffing shortages in public primary schools.
He said the governor’s approval underscores the administration’s commitment to repositioning the state’s basic education system for improved service delivery.
“The Governor’s approval is a clear demonstration of his commitment to ensuring that our primary schools are adequately staffed with qualified teachers. This will not only improve teaching and learning but also guarantee that every child has access to quality basic education,” he said.
The SUBEB chairman explained that the exercise forms part of the state government’s human capital development agenda and is expected to create employment opportunities for qualified youths in the state.
He assured prospective applicants that the recruitment process would be transparent, merit-based and conducted in line with established guidelines.
Akinwumi added that successful candidates would be selected based on their qualifications, competence and the specific needs of schools, with priority given to critical subject areas and underserved communities.
He noted that the exercise would be the second major recruitment of primary school teachers undertaken during Governor Oyebanji’s first term, following a similar exercise at the beginning of the administration.
The SUBEB chairman urged interested and qualified applicants to monitor the board’s official communication channels and other government media platforms for information on the application process and timelines.
