The Chairman of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Hon. Taiwo Adegoroye, has debunked reports claiming that schools within the council area have been shut down, describing the information as false, misleading, and lacking any official authorization, Peak Newspaper reports.
Adegoroye, in a statement issued on Monday through his Special Assistant on New Media, Comrade Olatunji Babatunde, clarified that neither his office nor the local government administration had directed the closure of any school in Odigbo.
According to the council boss, the report emanated from rumours and unverified information which were later circulated across several publications and online platforms.
He urged residents and members of the public to disregard the report, stressing that academic activities in schools across the local government remain uninterrupted.
The chairman commended stakeholders, parents, and residents who took steps to verify the authenticity of the information before reacting to it, noting that such actions helped prevent unnecessary panic among members of the community.
To further address concerns generated by the report, Adegoroye disclosed that he personally contacted security chiefs within the local government to clarify the situation and ensure that peace and order continue to prevail in the area.
He maintained that Odigbo Local Government remains peaceful and secure, adding that the level of peace currently enjoyed in the area is among the best in Ondo State.
Adegoroye therefore called on students, teachers, parents, and other residents to go about their normal daily activities without fear, assuring them that the security and welfare of citizens remain a top priority of the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the Ondo State Government.
The council chairman also expressed appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa for his efforts in strengthening security across Odigbo Local Government and other parts of the state.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace, protecting lives and property, and promoting the well-being of all residents within the local government area.
