A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, identified as Abdulsamad, has reportedly been shot dead by suspected Nigerian Army personnel in the early hours of Saturday in the Deidei area of Abuja, Peak Newspaper confirmed the incident

Which occurred around 2 a.m. in Shagari Quarters, has sparked outrage following reports that three soldiers allegedly forced their way into the residence of the deceased before opening fire.

According to eyewitness accounts, the soldiers were said to have arrived at the house under unclear circumstances and attempted to gain entry. When the door remained locked, they allegedly fired gunshots through it, fatally hitting the corps member.

Sources within the community disclosed that Abdulsamad had been at home with his siblings at the time of the incident, as their parents were away, and was reportedly trying to protect them when the shooting occurred.

Residents described the development as shocking and tragic, noting that the victim was unarmed and posed no threat at the time of the incident.

The shooting has since heightened tension in the area, with calls for a thorough investigation and accountability.
