Former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore has called for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ahead of the Easter celebrations, Peak Newspaper reports
Addressing a crowd of protesters during the weekend in Aba, he condemned the deployment of a large number of soldiers and other security men.
He said that the strong military presence should have been deployed to states that are facing serious attacks from Boko Haram and Lakuwara terrorists.
According to the human rights activist, he was not the organiser of the Aba protest, but explained that his presence was because of his belief in justice and equity for Kanu.
He described Nnamdi Kanu as a leader, brother and father who should be freed.
“We are not the organizers of this protest but we said we must come to this city and announce the freedom of our brother, our father and leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
“Am only for justice, I don’t care if you are Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa. Nigeria can not thrive when one tribe is treated differently from the other, Sowore said.
