Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, says some Nigerians have jokingly asked him to “slow down” with efforts to improve electricity supply because their freezers are now freezing properly, Peak Newspaper reports.
The minister said some areas that previously experienced prolonged power outages are now receiving up to 18 hours of electricity supply.
According to Tegbe, the humorous complaints highlight the difference improved electricity supply is making in the daily lives of Nigerians.
He, however, acknowledged that challenges remain in the power sector, including ageing infrastructure and vandalism of electricity facilities.
Tegbe said the government is working to replace old infrastructure and strengthen the protection of critical power assets across the country.
