After days of heated debate and online backlash over the demolition of a luxury car showroom linked to influencer Ola of Lagos, the Lekki Automobile Dealers Union has publicly backed the Lagos State Government, describing the exercise as both lawful and necessary.
Speaking with Peak Newspaper Correspondent, the union explained that the demolition, carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, was part of a broader effort to improve environmental safety and manage infrastructure in the Lekki Ajah area.
The group noted that all affected dealers were duly informed ahead of time and given the opportunity to relocate their vehicles. They also appreciated government officials, including Commissioners Tokunbo Wahab and Oluwaseun Osiyemi, for what they described as a “coordinated and respectful engagement” with stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Skyewise Group, a Nigerian company, clarified that the demolished property actually belonged to them not Ola of Lagos though a section had been leased to the influencer for luxury car displays.
Skyewise’s CEO, Elvis Abuyere, called the incident “unfortunate” but said it was part of a new waterway development project along the Lekki Epe corridor. He assured that the company plans to rebuild a larger and improved facility soon, thanking Nigerians for their support
