The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has met with political parties under the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) to reaffirm its commitment to credible and technology driven elections in Nigeria.
The meeting marked the first official engagement of Acting INEC Chairman, May Agbamuche Mbu, following the exit of Professor Mahmood Yakubu. In her address, she pledged to sustain electoral reforms while deepening transparency and inclusivity ahead of the 2026 and 2027 elections.
Agbamuche Mbu announced that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise has recorded strong participation, with 14 new political associations advancing to the final registration stage out of 171 applicants.
IPAC Chairman Yusuf Dantalle congratulated the acting chairman and urged the Commission to meet public expectations, emphasizing that the upcoming Anambra Governorship Election on November 8 would serve as a key test of INEC’s readiness under its new leadership
