Residents and business owners in Asaba, Delta State, have been counting their losses following a devastating rainstorm that swept across the city, causing widespread destruction to properties and infrastructure, Peak Newspaper reports.
One of the major incidents recorded during the storm involved a car dealership, where a large billboard collapsed onto several vehicles, including a Mercedes-Benz and other cars displayed for sale, resulting in significant damage.
Eyewitnesses told Peak Newspaper that multiple billboards were brought down by the heavy winds and rainfall, with some falling across major roads and onto residential and commercial properties in different parts of the state capital.
Property owners have lamented the extent of the destruction caused by the storm, which reportedly damaged assets worth millions of naira. Several electricity poles were also affected, raising concerns about power supply disruptions and public safety.
Residents are calling on relevant authorities to assess the damage and provide support to affected individuals and businesses.
