The Federal Government has suspended the implementation of newly introduced regulations for internet services, digital platforms, and online intermediaries, Peak Newspaper reports.
According to the government, the decision was taken pending the development of a harmonised national policy framework that will guide the regulation of Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.
Officials said the suspension is intended to allow for broader stakeholder engagement and ensure that any future regulatory framework balances innovation, digital growth, user rights, and national interests.
The move is expected to provide temporary relief for digital platform operators, technology companies, and other stakeholders who had raised concerns over the proposed regulations.
