The governor, who disclosed the development on Wednesday via his official Facebook page, said the new proposal represents a 63 percent increase over the 2025 budget. The appropriation earmarks ₦624.76 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦1.044 trillion for capital projects.

Abiodun explained that the budget would prioritize the completion of key projects under the state’s ISEYA development pillars, with particular focus on long-term economic growth. Expected revenues include ₦509.88 billion from internally generated revenue, ₦554.81 billion from federal allocations, and ₦518.90 billion from capital receipts.

Infrastructure tops the sectoral allocation with ₦526.15 billion, followed by education, health, housing, and other social sectors. According to the governor, the spending plan is designed to drive job creation, strengthen revenue growth, enhance food security, expand industrial opportunities, and improve public service delivery.

Providing an update on the 2025 “Budget of Hope and Prosperity,” Abiodun said the state had achieved 60 percent pro-rata expenditure and 53 percent revenue performance as of September 30. He noted that Ogun’s GDP has grown to ₦17 trillion, while IGR increased from ₦52 billion in 2020 to nearly ₦192 billion in 2024, with a projection of ₦250 billion in 2025.

He highlighted several major projects, including the fully certified Gateway International Airport, ongoing work on the Kajola and Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Ports, and more than 1,500km of roads constructed or rehabilitated across the state.

The governor commended the Speaker and members of the Assembly for their cooperation, legislative support, and oversight roles.
