The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon Olamide Oladiji set to resign or face impeachment proceedings Today 27 July 2026 over allegations of ₦44 million financial misconduct.

Twenty-one of the 26 members of the House have signed an impeachment notice against the Speaker over alleged financial misconduct.
In a resolution reached on Friday, members of the House issued a Sunday deadline 26 July 2026 for the Speaker to step down voluntarily, warning that failure to do so would trigger impeachment.
Sources within the Assembly said the lawmakers accused Oladiji of mismanaging ₦44 million meant for legislative activities and constituency projects. The alleged financial infractions were said to have breached the House’s rules and eroded confidence in his leadership.
The ultimatum has heightened tension at the Assembly complex in Akure, as political stakeholders await the Speaker’s response before the deadline expires.
It remains unclear whether Oladiji will resign or contest the allegations.
