The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reportedly ordered the payment of all agreed entitlements, urging the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ondo State Chapter, to call off its ongoing strike, Peak Newspaper reports.
A reliable source noted that the breakthrough followed Governor Aiyedatiwa’s directive for the immediate payment of all agreed entitlements to the striking lecturers.
“The union is expected to formally announce the suspension of the strike, paving the way for academic activities to resume on campuses across the state.
“The development brings relief to students, parents and stakeholders who had been worried about the disruption of the academic calendar.
“The governor’s intervention is being widely commended as a demonstration of his commitment to education and industrial harmony in the state.
“Stakeholders have also urged the union and the government to sustain the spirit of dialogue to avoid future disputes.
“Students are advised to prepare to resume academic activities,” the source revealed.
However, ASUU is yet to release an official statement to clarify its position on this subject.
