A section of the newly commissioned flyover at the Lameco area of Osogbo, Osun State, has reportedly sunk, barely 23 days after it was inaugurated, Peak Newspaper reports.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday following rainfall in the state capital, with a portion of the bridge developing visible cracks and a noticeable depression on the asphalt surface.

The development has raised safety concerns among residents and motorists, as road users were forced to slow down and divert to alternative routes.

Following the incident, the affected section of the flyover was cordoned off, while operatives of the Amotekun Corps were deployed to restrict access and prevent motorists from using the damaged portion.

Peak Newspaper recall that the flyover was commissioned on July 1, 2026, by Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

As of the time of filing the report, the Osun State Government had yet to issue an official statement on the development.
