The Federal Government has announced plans to sell 753 housing units recovered from former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, to Nigerians.

This was disclosed by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development after a site inspection led by Minister Ahmed Dangiwa and EFCC Chairman Olanipekun Olukoyede.

The estate, recovered by the EFCC in December 2024, was officially handed over to the Ministry following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive.

Dangiwa stated that technical assessments, including structural integrity tests, would begin immediately. Once the buildings pass inspection, they would be completed and listed for sale via the Renewed Hope portal.

He reaffirmed the government ‘s commitment to transparency and accountability, warning public officials against corrupt practices.

“This recovery is one of the most significant in our country’s history”, Dangiwa said, commending the EFCC for its efforts.

“This visit is to show the public that the estate is real and the recovery is legitimate”, he said.

The EFCC described the property as its largest single asset recovery since its establishment in 2003.

The estate, covering over 15,000 square metres, features duplexes and other apartment types.

The EFCC and the Ministry stressed the importance of public trust and urged citizens to support ongoing anti-corruption efforts aimed at returning stolen assets for public benefit.
