The Executive Chairman of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo state, Honourable Taiwo Adegoroye, has called on Muslims to continue to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, love, unity of purpose and obedience as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim and upheld by Prophet Muhammad.
Honourable Adegoroye, in a good will message he personally signed and made available to Peak Newspaper Nigeria on Friday, congratulated Muslims faithful for witnessing another Eid festival.
As we partake in the sacrificial rites, let us remember the Quranic message that Allah does not need the meat or blood of the sacrificed animals; rather, it is our piety and devotion that He seeks. As stated in Surah Al-Hajj (22:37), “Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you.”
In the spirit of this teaching, I urge everyone to celebrate responsibly and maintain the highest standards of hygiene. Proper handling and disposal of animal remains are crucial to prevent health hazards. Let us ensure that our surroundings are clean, reflecting the purity of our faith.
He rejoiced with Muslims faithful in the local government on the occasion of this year’s Eid-al-adha Sallah celebration.
The Executive Chairman described the Eid-al-adha as a period of sacrifice, sharing and caring, while assuring of a peaceful celebration in the local government and Ondo State in particular as the government is in touch with security agencies to ensure that they celebrate the Sallah in peace and harmony.
He urged the good people of Odigbo LGA to be security conscious and report any act of breach of law and order capable of threatening the prevailing peace in the local government and the state in particular.
“On behalf of myself, my family, the government and the good people of Odigbo Local Government Area, I rejoice with our brothers and sisters in Islam across the world on the occasion of this year’s Eid-al-Kabir,” he said.
He also felicitated with Governor of Ondo state Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, members of the State Executive Council, Speaker and members of Ondo State House of Assembly, the Legislative Arm of the Odigbo Local Government and traditional rulers on the great celebration.
