Founder of Peak Newspaper Nigeria and a powerful voice against human rights violations and oppression, Comrade Olatunji Babatunde has demanded for the unconditional release of controversial social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan.
In a statement obtained by Peak Newspaper Nigeria, Comrade Olatunji urged Nigerians to stand together to resist the unlawful abduction of VDM.
Also, he berated the Nigerian Anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for failing to follow due process in the arrest and persistent detention of VDM.
VeryDarkMan was arrested on Friday shortly after he visited a branch of the Guarantee Trust Bank to complain about alleged unauthorised transactions from his mother’s account.
Since VDM’s arrest, Nigerians, celebrities and political figures including Davido, Deji Adeyanju, Sowore, Peter Obi and others have condemned the uncivil pattern of his arrest, raising concerns about human rights violations and attempts to silence vocal voices.
Comrade Babatunde’s statement reads:
“Free VDM Now !!!
“I’m adding my voice to the call of Nigerians for the immediate release of VDM, who is currently unlawfully detained.
“It is concerning that no government officials have officially confirmed his arrest or provided a reason for it.
“Every Nigerian’s human rights must be protected at all costs. What is happening to VDM today could happen to anyone tomorrow.
“It is crucial that we stand together to uphold justice and ensure that everyone’s rights are respected.
“Let us unite in our demand for accountability and transparency from our government. Together, we can make a difference.
