President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the nation’s security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri and take charge of the security situation following renewed terror attacks in the area, Peak Newspaper reports

The directive, issued on Tuesday, comes amid rising concerns over coordinated assaults on military positions and communities in Borno State, a region long troubled by insurgency.

In a statement released in Abuja, the President described the latest developments from Maiduguri as “profoundly upsetting,” expressing grief over lives lost and extending sympathies to the injured.

Tinubu also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to confronting insecurity, assuring Nigerians that efforts to eliminate criminal elements would be intensified across the country.

“I want to make it categorically clear that these acts of terror are the final desperate and frantic attempts by criminals and terrorist elements trying to instil and spread fear, as they are under constant pressure from our brave armed forces and security agencies,” he said.

The President commended the resilience of security operatives, noting that troops had successfully repelled coordinated attacks by insurgents on military formations in the state.

Describing the incidents as “desperate acts of evil-minded groups,” Tinubu maintained that both military personnel and civilian task forces remain determined to neutralise the threats.

He further disclosed that recent security engagements with heads of intelligence and defence agencies led to the approval of additional equipment and operational support to strengthen ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

“There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them. Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” he stated.

The President added that the relocation of security chiefs is already underway, while emergency response agencies have been directed to ensure proper medical care and support for those injured in the attacks.
