OPay, a Nigerian financial technology firm, has dismissed a viral report claiming that the fintech company would be going on an indefinite break, describing the information as fake news, Peak Newspaper reports.

The company urged customers and members of the public to disregard the circulating report, stressing that there is no plan to suspend its operations. A report published today also quoted OPay as saying, “We’re not going anywhere.”

The clarification comes amid renewed concerns on social media over the status of the financial technology platform.

OPay has continued to operate in Nigeria, with the company recently announcing strengthened compliance and fraud-prevention measures across its platform.

The public is therefore advised to ignore the false information and rely on OPay’s official communication channels for updates.
