Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has signed Executive Order 002, restricting the operation of commercial motorcycles, popularly known as Okada, to the period between 5:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. across the state, Peak Newspaper reports.

The executive order, titled “The Registration and Enforcement of Vehicle Registration and Traffic Management in Oyo State,” is aimed at strengthening the state’s security architecture and enhancing traffic management and enforcement measures.

Under the new directive, commercial motorcycle operators will no longer be permitted to operate outside the approved hours. The government says the measure forms part of broader efforts to curb criminal activities often associated with unregulated transportation operations and to improve public safety.

Details regarding enforcement mechanisms, penalties for violations, and possible exemptions are expected to be released by the state government in due course.
