BREAKING: Hon Kele Meroyi Decamps From APC, Declares House of Assembly Interest Under Accord

Former Rate Officer in Odigbo Local Government, Hon Kele Meroyi, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Accord Party, where he declared his intention to contest for the Odigbo Constituency II seat in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Peak Newspaper reports.

Speaking in an “Exclusive Interview” with Peak Newspaper, Hon Meroyi expressed dissatisfaction over what he described as unfair and non-transparent treatment of party members by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Odigbo Local Government.

According to him, the candidate allegedly imposed on the people of Odigbo Constituency II by the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Mrs. Atoyebi Aderonke, is not an indigene of the constituency and therefore should not be allowed to represent the people.

Hon Meroyi stated that despite protests and rejection of the candidacy by youths, community leaders within the constituency, the governor allegedly ignored their concerns and proceeded with what he described as an imposition.

Hon Meroyi was a Former Rate Officer in Araromi-Obu Zone, Odigbo Local Government and he also served as a cashier in Okitipupa Local Government and Ondo West Local government area of Ondo State, He resigned from civil service on April 22nd, 2026 to enable him to contest for an elective position.

He added that his decision to join the Accord Party was borne out of his desire to provide credible representation and restore the voice of the people in the constituency.

The former APC chieftain further disclosed that he had consulted with youths, community leaders, and Oba Aderemi Adelola the Ajobu of Araromi-Obu Kingdom for a royal blessings, noting that he received their prayers, encouragement, and support ahead of the forthcoming election.

Meroyi assured residents of Odigbo Constituency II that if elected into the Ondo State House of Assembly, he would prioritize meaningful development across the constituency.

He promised to facilitate quality road projects, improve access to healthcare services, support educational development through scholarships and learning materials, and empower youths and women through vocational training and employment opportunities.

He also pledged to promote agricultural development by supporting local farmers with modern farming assistance and advocating policies that would boost economic growth within the constituency.

In addition, Meroyi promised to ensure regular constituency engagement, transparent representation, and attract government presence to neglected communities within Odigbo Constituency II.

He called on residents to support his ambition, assuring them that his administration would be people-oriented and committed to delivering the dividends of democracy, Hon Kele Meroyi Said.
