The major road connecting Araromi Obu in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State to Ayede in Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State has once again been taken over by River Owí and River Lábàtà, leaving residents stranded.

Community sources told Peak Newspaper that the rivers have overflown their banks for decades, cutting across the road and making passage difficult for commuters and traders between the two neighboring states.

“This road has been blocked for years; it’s as if the rivers have crossed the road completely. Successive governments have done nothing to solve this problem,” a resident lamented.

The people of Araromi Obu and Ayede are appealing to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State to urgently intervene and find a lasting solution.

Residents warn that the situation is worsening yearly, describing it as “very bad and neglectful,” especially as the road serves as a vital link between the two states.
