Hon. Philip Agbese, member representing Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in Benue State, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Labour Party (LP), Peak Newspaper reports.

Agbese, who currently serves as the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, announced his defection amid the ongoing political crisis in Benue State.

The move is believed to be connected to the growing rift between the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, and Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Sources suggest that the Labour Party may now be positioned as a strategic platform to challenge the current administration in the state, as political alignments continue to shift.
