The Nigeria Police Force has announced the appointment of CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO). Hundeyin will take over from DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who has been transferred to the Delta State Police Command.

The change, confirmed on September 3, 2025, follows growing controversies surrounding Adejobi’s tenure, marked by public criticism over alleged misconduct and accusations of shielding the police institution from scrutiny. Notable incidents during his tenure include petitions from human rights advocates, allegations of abuse of power, and public clashes with activists.

CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, known for his active engagement with the public in Lagos, is expected to bring a new communication approach to the Force Headquarters.

The Police Force has yet to release an official statement detailing the terms of Hundeyin’s appointment or the reasons for Adejobi’s redeployment.
