Gunmen have killed Reverend James Audu Issa, a pastor of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), after abducting him from Ekati village in Patigi LGA, Kwara State, despite receiving ₦5 million ransom.
Peak Newspaper reports that the kidnappers had initially demanded ₦100 million before the sum was negotiated down to ₦5 million. After collecting the money, they demanded an additional ₦45 million but killed the cleric before further talks could continue.
The killing has left the Ekati community and the wider Patigi Emirate in shock, with residents describing it as a case of “ransom-for-murder.”
Meanwhile, insecurity in Kwara North continues to escalate, with recent reports of a police officer and two farmers abducted in separate incidents across Edu and Patigi LGAs.
