Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, has declared that individuals involved in the looting of Nigeria’s public resources and national assets will eventually face justice, regardless of their status or attempts to evade arrest, Peak Newspaper reports.

Olukoyede made the statement in Abuja while addressing journalists after the arrest of former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, who was recently convicted over a N33.8 billion fraud case linked to the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.

According to the EFCC chairman, the arrest of the ex-minister demonstrated the Federal Government’s commitment to the anti-corruption fight and served as a warning to corrupt public officials and collaborators hiding stolen public funds or shielding fugitives from prosecution.

This is a test of the commitment of the Federal Government of Nigeria to the fight against corruption and to assure Nigerians that anyone who has pilfered national resources will not go unpunished, Olukoyede said while confirming that the former minister was apprehended during an early morning operation in Kaduna State.

He further stated that the eagle eye of the EFCC would continue tracking individuals involved in corruption and economic crimes across the country, stressing that no hiding place exists for those who divert public resources meant for national development.
