The Federal Government has promised to restore the Abuja–Kaduna rail line within ten days following last month’s passenger train derailment.

Transportation Minister, Senator Said Alkali, who inspected repair work yesterday, said four of the eight derailed coaches have already been removed, with the remaining set to be cleared within 48 hours.

The damaged 150-meter track will be rebuilt with new sleepers, pallets, and rails.

Alkali thanked President Bola Tinubu for his support and praised railway staff, security agencies, and stakeholders for ensuring safety since the incident.

He added that the investigation into the derailment, which occurred at a track intersection, is ongoing, and lessons learned will guide measures to prevent future accidents.
